Korea Football Association (KFA) presidential election has been suspended for an unprecedented time. On the afternoon of July 7, a day before the 55th KFA presidential election, the court cited Huh Jung-moo's request for provisional injunction against the KFA. The next presidential election was scheduled to take place on Saturday.

Shortly after the court was quoted, the KFA said, "We inform you that the election date for the 55th president of the Korea Football Association will be temporarily postponed. We will announce it as soon as the schedule is established." Delivering the provisional postponement to the electors, the KFA also said, "We will inform you again when it is confirmed regarding the schedule of the upcoming election and the payment of transportation expenses. Please understand the inconvenience caused."

However, the soccer community has turned into a chaos. The election management committee of the KFA has decided to provide round-trip airfare not only to domestic leaders and athletes who were participating in overseas training camps. Reportedly, the committee experienced chaos while preparing to return to Korea from Thailand and Vietnam.

Huh filed a petition for a provisional injunction against the KFA on June 30, saying that the presidential election for the association is being unfair. The hearing date for the provisional injunction was held on June 6, and the KFA and Huh's side engaged in a legal battle. The Civil Agreement Division 50 of the Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of Huh after the hearing.

The court judged that "there is a serious procedural violation that can be admitted to have significantly violated the fairness of the election and thereby affected the election process." It also pointed out that "the majority of the electors were formed through a lottery process where transparency and fairness were not confirmed." He added, "It was not possible to confirm whether the committee was organized in accordance with the articles of association and election management regulations because it did not disclose who was commissioned as a member of the election management and operation committee."

Regarding the decrease in the number of electors from 194 to 173, he also said, "If there is no majority vote in the first round, it is likely to affect the decision of candidates to go to the runoff election." "If the election is held, there is a high possibility that a subsequent dispute will be triggered over its effectiveness," he predicted. "Considering these points comprehensively, the need to preserve the application for provisional injunction is also clarified," the court said.

"The KFA unfairly conducted the election schedule for the president of the association. There is no way to confirm the composition of the election management committee," Huh said. "The executive of Chung Mong-kyu, president of the association, who is running for the third and fourth terms, is in charge of the election, and it is questionable whether other candidates can regard it as a normal election unless the election process is publicly revealed." The KFA countered by saying, "It is a distortion to proceed for a specific person," but the court turned a blind eye to it.

In the 55th KFA presidential election, Chung Mong-kyu, the current chairman, is running for the fourth term, while Heo Jung-moo, a visiting professor of sports record analysis at the Graduate School of Records and Information Science in Shinmun-seon, and Huh Jung-moo, former chairman of the Hana Citizen Board of Daejeon, jumped into the competition.

Chung, one of the strongest contenders in Korea, seems to be quite embarrassed by the provisional disposition. He refrained from responding positively, saying, "I am just one candidate," to the unfair dispute. Instead, he conducted his campaign quietly across the country.

They also made public declarations of support. Starting with Baek Hyun-sik, president of the Busan Football Association, the Korea Football Leaders Association, and Chung Jin-seol, president of the Seoul Football Association, expressed their support for Chung.

On the eve of the election, Chung said he would donate 5 billion won to the KFA for the successful completion of the Korea Football Center, which is his core pledge, which caused a great stir. However, the postponement of the election somewhat deflated. Heo, who won the election, said he strongly welcomed the court's wise decision. 안전놀이터

The regulation of the presidential election management stipulates that if a court or committee decides to nullify an election or invalidate an election, a re-election or by-election shall be held within 60 days from the date the reason for the election is confirmed. Today is the day of Korean soccer.
